Community members,
Howard County is working towards making our county more age-friendly by proposing several changes to encourage residents to remain in the county through retirement. The Age Friendly Howard County Initiative developed an actionable, three- to five-year plan for the county to join AARP's network of age-friendly states and communities affiliated with the World Health Organization (WHO). Achieving this designation requires a focused effort to create a “livable” community to ensure that Howard County is a great place for all to grow up and grow older. The County has released their proposed plan and has requested the public review and provide comments on the plan by Friday, July 23rd. An overview of the plan can be found here (link) and action steps are described here (link) for a plan summary.
We encourage you to review the plan and provide input by the close of business on Friday, July 23rd so your voices can be heard. Comments should be submitted to agefriendly@howardcountymd.gov or to Terri Hansen, Age-Friendly Manager, 9830 Patuxent Woods Drive, Columbia 21046.
Thank you,
SJCA
